Shark spotted near the Belgian border: swimmers ordered to leave water

On Sunday a shark was spotted off the coast of the French seaside resorts of Bray-Dunes and Zuidkote, near the Belgian border. The order services arrived en masse and swimmers were ordered to leave the water.
The sun was shining and the temperature was pleasant. It was busy on Sunday on the beaches of Bray-Dunes and Zuidkote. Many bathers also decided to take a dip in the North Sea, but around 3 pm all those present were ordered to leave the water as quickly as possible. The reason: a shark was spotted in the area.
The fire brigade and police, equipped with off -road vehicles, came to the scene and patrolled the beach to warn everyone and to ensure that no one had remained in the water. Although many thought it was a joke or false report, the order services continued that a real shark had indeed had been noticed and that swimming was forbidden.
According to the local fire brigade, « about ten people » had reported that they had spotted a shark fin near Bray-Dunes. « If we had only had one witness, we might have thought that it was a joke, but when we got ten separate phone calls, we took the business very seriously. »
After the ten reports it stopped and there was no trace of the Vin or the shark anymore. For the time being it is also not known exactly what species it was. The alarm was lifted around 5 pm.
