Several journalists / day were detained in Turkey

The Disk-Basin-Is trade union said at least eight reporters and photojournalists have been detained. The trade union described it as « an attack on freedom of the press and the right to know the truth. »
« You can’t hide the truth by silencing journalists, » the trade union writes on the platform « X », demanding immediate release of detainees.
Authorities have not commented on the arrest of journalists.
The arrest of the popular Istanbul plague is considered to be a political settlement so that he cannot stand in the presidential election, challenging Erdogan. The regular presidential elections in Turkey are scheduled for 2028.
However, government officials say the judicial system is operating independently.
Imamoglu was arrested on charges of leading a criminal organization, bribery, extortion, illegal recording of personal data and falsification of tenderers. He has denied all the accusations. The claim was rejected by terrorism due to terrorism, although he is still in danger of prosecuting.
The Ministry of the Interior later announced that the « temporary event » has been dismissed by imamogls. Istanbul’s municipality had previously appointed the mayor’s duties from its Management Council.
In Turkish opposition, the Republican People’s Party (CHP) pre -election on Sunday was selected as a party candidate in the next presidential election.
Along with the imamoglu, the arrest will be detained for another 47 people, including the two mayors of the two areas of Istanbul. Another 44 suspects were released until court.
In 2019, for the first time in 25 years, opposition candidates won the positions of the municipal elections in Ankara and Istanbul. In 2024, Imamoglu was re -elected as mayor of Istanbul.
