Vučević announced in January

The previous Prime Minister Milos Vučević announced his resignation in January this year. President Vučić hopes for an end to the wave of protest, which is considered a crisis that has not yet been seen. On November 1, 2024, this was triggered by 16 deaths from the collapse of a station vordach in the North Serbian city of Novi Sad.

The protest marches and rallies in Belgrade and many other localities in the country have been largely peaceful since then. The protesters see corruption and state failure as the background of Novi Sad’s misfortune. They require systemic reforms to eliminate corruption and mismanagement with the rule of law.

As an endocrinologist, the new Premier Macut has a certain reputation in the professional world. So far, he only appeared politically as a declared supporter of Vučić. (APA)
