Serbian refinery incident: 82,000 liters of oil expired, possible Danube pollution
About 82,000 liters of oil were poured during a loading in a barep of Naftahham company from Novi Sad from the Serbian refinery in Pancevo on April 21 at around 7 pm, the Pancevo Basic Prosecutor’s Office said today, according to regional television N1. Part of the oil ended up in the protective barrier around the help, and potentially in the Danube River.
The on -call prosecutor immediately went to the scene of the incident, where he inspected police, provincial environmental inspectors, state -owned security inspectors in sailing and transporting dangerous materials, the statement said.
The investigation determined that on April 20, the Naftahham Hotel arrived on the third port quay of the Pancevo refinery, and on April 21, between 7:02 and 7:35 pm, during oil loading, about 82,000 liters were poured into the Protective barrier.
The Institute of Public Health was taking samples of water near the slit and other parts of the Danube River, in order to determine the degree of pollution. The Public Health Service in Pancevo, in cooperation with the police and the competent inspectorates, will take additional measures and determine the cause of the environmental incident.
