Serbia imports more and more goods, in January trade deficit increased by 50 percent – economy


The total trade of Serbia in January this year amounted to 5182.9 million euros and represents a growth of 6.4 percent compared to the same period last year, the Republic Bureau of Statistics (RZS) published today.

The RZS report states that they also grew imports and exports of goods, with Serbia imported much more than exported.

The export of goods, expressed in euros, had a value of 2224.8 million, which makes up 1.6 percent compared to January of the previous year.

The import of goods had a value of 2958.1 million, which is an increase of as much as 10.4 percent compared to the same period last year.

The deficit amounts to 733.3 million euros, which is an increase of 50 percent compared to the same period last year.

The coverage of imports by exports is 75.2 percent and less than coverage in the same period last year, when it amounted to 81.8 percent.

Russia returned to the top five largest foreign trade partners of Serbia

The foreign trade in the department was the largest with countries with which Serbia has signed free trade agreements. European Union member states account for 55.3 percent of total exchange.

In January, Serbia was most exported to Germany, China, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy and Romania. When it comes to imports, Serbia was most imported from China, Germany, Italy, Hungary and Russia.

It is interesting that Russia again returned to the list of five largest foreign trade partners in Serbia in January, after falling from that list last year.

Our second most important partner are CEFTA countries, with which we have a surplus in exchange of 195.9 million dollars, which is mostly exported: electricity, grain and products, oil and petroleum products, beverages and medical and pharmaceutical products.

Observed individually by countries, a higher surplus in the exchange: Montenegro (Electricity and Dried Meat), Bosnia and Herzegovina (maximum energy and lignite is exported) and northern Macedonia (exports of electricity and electrical conductors, and is imported Most electricity and catalysts on the carrier).

The surplus with Romania, Bulgaria, Algeria, Czech, Slovak, Great Britain, Swedish, Moldovia, is also emphasized from other countries.

The largest deficit occurs in trade with China (due to telephone and laptop network imports).
