After the verbal attacks by US President Donald Trump on Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskij, Selenskij's survey values in his own country have increased significantly. In a survey of the Kiev Institute Kiis published on Friday, 67 percent of those surveyed expressed their trust in the head of state – ten percentage points more than a month earlier.
The survey took place between February 14 and March 4. During this period, Trump disparaged Selenskij as a « dictator » and blamed him for Russia's attack on Ukraine. Trump's verbal attacks finally culminated in a scandal in the White House a week ago.
The survey result suggests that Trump's attacks strengthened support for Selenskij in his own country, explained the survey institute. « We are experiencing a process of union of society against the background of new challenges for Ukraine, » said Kiis director Anton Gruschetsky. Apparently, the Ukrainians of Trump's rhetoric are perceived as « attack on the entire Ukraine and all Ukrainians ».
