Selection of Significant Polish Films in the Cinematheque
The Cinematheque of Macedonia, in cooperation with the Institute « Adam Mickevich » from Poland and with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in Skopje, organized the event « Polish Film Week », which ends today, on the occasion of the Presidency of the Republic of Poland with the Council of the European Union.
As part of this thematic film week, the audience had the rare opportunity to watch a selection of significant Polish films that left a lasting mark on European and world cinematography. The program covered titles of different generations and styles, including the works of celebrated directors Krzysztof Kjeslovski and Agnieszka Holland, as well as contemporary voices such as Agniesko Smochinsky and Cuba Mikurda.
Film Sunday began with screening of the movie « My Solar Loving » (2023) – Visual and Poetry -minded inspired by Andrei Tarkovsky’s film and Stanislav Lem’s novel. The guest of this screening was the editor of this film Laura Pavel, who, after screening along with directors Sasa Stanisic and Jane Altiparmakov, discussed her work on this film work. All screenings were held at the Cinematheque Cinema, and the films were shown: « Blind Chance » (1987), « Lonely Woman » (1987), « Actors from Province » (1979), « Green Border » (1923) and « The Hand » (2015)
The program was implemented in cooperation with the Adam Mickevich Institute as part of the Polish Presidency International Cultural Program with the Council of the European Union 2025.
