See a people passionate about cycling

President of Giro D’Italia, Urbano Ciaro has recently spoken about our country, where this event is being held.

What is your impression in these first hours for Albania, compared to it a few years ago?
The thing that impressed me most was the kids at Durres: They were so many, young people and young people to see Giro D’Italia. A tremendous enthusiasm, but also arriving in a big city such as Tirana.

How did Tirana look social and sports? Cyclization has increased until the 80s, now struggling to have a place…
I see a people passionate about cycle. I am told that there are schools dedicated to children here, to educate them with the cyclism in a child. It is a people who want to grow, who has a lot of passion and desire to move forward. It is ideal for this Giro to leave here and that had so much interest.

What does all this competition mean Giro D’Italia?
It is a great opportunity for us and for Albania. Prime Minister Edi Rama realized how important it was to open a window to the world: these stages that go around the world are a way to attract as many people as possible. Giro becomes more international: we have been in Israel, then in Hungary, now in Albania and there is much interest in this competition.

Is Giro D’Italia more important for Albania or vice versa?
Giro D’Italia, of course, is very important for Albania and the departure from Durres was a good thing. The road can also serve for the tourist presence. Albania is a country that is growing and developing a lot, and lives with it. It has managed to have 12 million tourists in one year and has done a tremendous job: in recent years there has been an increase in the presence from the outside and have been able to do their best here. Having three stages of giros seen from 200 countries with 800 million inhabitants means having an extraordinary advertising for the country ”
