Second International Cultural Heritage Protection and Research Symposium has begun – Cyprus Newspaper
The Opening of the Second International Cultural Heritage Protection and Research Symposium was opened today at Kyrenia Acapulco Hotel.
32 scientific papers will be presented at the event that will last for two days. Within the scope of the presentations, the importance of cultural heritage in Cyprus and Türkiye, threats, protection methods, restoration techniques and sustainable cultural heritage management will be discussed.
President Ersin Tatar, Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) Nicosia Office Coordinator Havva Pınar Özcan Küçükçavuş, President of the Cultural Heritage Protection and Research Association (KUDAD) President Ayhatun Ateş was made by the President Ersin Tatar (TİKA). The symposium is organized under the main sponsorship of Acapulco Resort Convention Spa Hotel in cooperation with the SCTC National Archive and Research Department, TRNC Antiquities and Museums Department and Alashia Terracotta Art Society.

The symposium, which supports interdisciplinary information exchange in the field of cultural heritage, aims to bring together both the academic community and practitioners and to contribute to the protection of heritage and the transfer of future generations.

President Ersin Tatar emphasized the importance of the valuable contributions of scientists in his speech by thanking those who contributed to the arrangement of the symposium.
Expressing that the island of Cyprus has a rich culture, Tatar said, “We are obliged to protect this culture and transfer it to future generations,” he said.

Recalling that the decisions taken at the Cyprus conference in Geneva also included issues related to the protection of cemeteries and cultural heritage, Tatar emphasized the importance of the restoration of churches and mosques within the framework of respect.
President Tatar, within the framework of the symposium yesterday evening, the first screening « Freedom on the shore » documentary, referring to the documentary, the foundation of the TRNC was laid with the population exchange and two states found shape, he said. TİKA Nicosia Office Coordinator Havva Pınar Özcan Küçükçavuş stated that they contributed to the symposium last year. Saying that they learned a lot from scientists, Küçükçavuş said that they were happy to contribute to the project this year.
Küçükçavuş said that TİKA is carrying out projects on behalf of the protection of cultural heritage all over the world and said that studies have been carried out in the TRNC.

Serkan Geduk, President of the Cultural Heritage Protection and Research Association (PUBD), said that the Second International Cultural Heritage Protection and Research Symposium is an indication of the determination of Cultural Heritage Protection and Conservation of Cultural Heritage and Conservation.
Geduk stated that the information and experiences will be shared in the symposium and that the studies that will lead the future that sheds light on the cultural heritage will be carried out.
