Scientists have discovered a new color called « Olo »

The research group from Berkeley University in the United States describes the color as blue -green, although it does not seem to capture the researchers’ exact experience of the color, reports The Guardian.

Before the experiment, the researchers knew that the human eye had not perceived this signal before. But that is why they did not know how the brain would receive the signal.

The study was published in Journal Science Advances. The researchers have named the color of « Olo » and published a color box for others to get an idea of ​​the shade, which can be described as intensely green with a hint of turquoise.

However, the researcher Austin Roorda says that the color box does not do « Olo » justice, because it is a color that cannot be seen – it must be experienced.

– The color we see is a version of it, but it absolutely fades compared to the experience of Olo, he says.

The eye perceives colors Through color -sensitive cells, called pins, in the retina. Natural light stimulates three types of pins. But the researchers tried to stimulate one of the pins that is naturally only stimulated in interaction with the other pins. In this way, the group managed to overcome the Öggat’s natural limitations, reports The Guardian.

The researchers hope that the discovery will help in further research on how the brain creates its visual view.
