School district in Texas prohibits flag – goddess’s breast visible

The flag has been given one of Texas school districts to delete parts of its educational program where the state’s symbol is visible, and to remove books that contain the flag from its elementary school libraries. In connection with the decision, a lesson on Virginia’s history has also been completely deleted for certain grades.

« No material in elementary school libraries may contain visual depictions or illustrations of nudity, » writes the district’s school board in the decision, which was approved with five votes against one.

The goddess Virtus has Dying Virginia’s seal since the state was founded in 1776, and its flag since 1861. At first she was completely dressed on the flag, but the western chest has been visible for over 100 years. On the state flag, the goddess has a defeated king at her feet, along with the text « SIC Semper tyranny » – Latin for » so it must always go the tyrants « .

Democratic Virginia Secinator Mark Warner comments on the school district’s decision in an email to the Washington Post:

« The lesson to defeat tyranny has thus been banned due to a 240 -year -old choice of clothing, » he writes and continues sarcastically:

« I’m sure our founders would be relieved if they knew decency survived, even if their message didn’t.
