School director Gert De Spiegeleer becomes missing during snorkeling step in Guadeloupe (inland)

Gert De Spiegeleer, the director of the GO! Campus Da Vinci in Ronse has been missing in Guadeloupe since Wednesday. He was traveling with his girlfriend and friends, but disappeared while snorkeling.
Sophie van Langenhove, the partner of Gert De Spiegeleer, posted a message on social media on Saturday. In it she writes that « her partner, best friend and dad of their three sons » was missing on Wednesday, traveling in Guadeloupe. That is a French department in the Caribbean Sea, which is one of the Little Antilles.
« During a snorkeling trip in the Cousteau reserve at Malendure, Gert went into hiding and he no longer came up, » she writes. « Despite an extensive search by friends, the captain, the emergency services, diving teams and helicopters, he has not been found to this day. The local authorities continue to look. »

Gert De Spiegeleer lives in Lierde and has been director of Go since 2023! Campus Da Vinci, the former Atheneum of Ronse. He was previously and held some positions in community education in the meantime. He would be 52 today/Sunday.
