Scheepshoorn keeps local residents Waaslandhaven out of their sleep (Zwijndrecht)

A by accidentally activated ship’s horn has woken up many local residents of the Waaslandhaven in the night from Friday to Saturday. It took hours before they managed to drop the sound.
In the night of 18 to 19 April, the police and the environmental service were flooded with complaints about a persistent sound that disturbed peace in the northern boroughs of the city of Beveren. Especially in Kieldrecht and Verrebroek, the nocturnal drown was experienced as particularly annoying. People were kept out of their sleep and did not know where the sound came from. Some also thought it was an alarm and were not comfortable with it.
After investigation, the cause appeared to be in the Waaslandhaven. There, the ship Grande Brasile was prepared for departure to Turkey, where it will be dismantled. De Scheepshoorn was accidentally activated during those preparatory works. And nobody a way to put it off again.
It took several hours before the sound could be switched off, with a sleepless night for many local residents as a result.
The Grande Brasile burned out in the North Sea in mid -February.
At that time, the ship sailed about 25 kilometers east of Ramsgate. The British Coast Guard was able to take the 28 crew members off board.
