Scandal to agriculture, 5 accused remain in prison
Following a hearing that lasted several hours, the Special Court against corruption communicated charges of 24 people involved in the scandal with tenders at the Kamza Agricultural University. From investigations by special methods such as; The interception of the telephone conversations of the officials of the Agricultural University of Tirana, the observations conducted by the State Police and the administration of the documentation, were investigated nine procurement procedures held in 2022, with a procurement value of 90,000,000 ALL.
During the investigation, legal violations of the responsible persons of the academic level at UBT, the citizens, were identified; Ilir Kapaj and Romina Koto with deputy rectors at the Agricultural University of Tirana and the Head of the UBT Pre-Department Department, who, at the time of the design of projects and the provision of funds at the National Agency for Scientific Research and Innovation, have conducted actions in cooperation with the title of Contracting Authority, Edmond Translated by UBT.
Their illegal actions have consisted of preparing fictitious project data, with specifications prepared by competitive and winning economic operators themselves in these procurement procedures. Investigations also show that there was a violation even after securing funds from the AKKSHI. Cases of the procurement procedure with the predetermined economic operator, for equipment and other goods available to the Contracting Authority, several months before the announcement of procurement procedures, have also been identified.
