Scandal in Sasin. The priest borrowed millions from the faithful and disappeared with money
Sasino is a village of Kaszubska in the Choczewo commune. About 450 people live here. This is the pastor of the local parish Divine Mercy in August 2016 became Fr. Krzysztof Sz.

– A new priest has come, who began to renovate, attracted money from various projects – says Mr. Grzegorz in an interview with Onet, who does not want to reveal his name.
The priest dealt with the renovation of the historic church in nearby Ciekocin, and the donations of sponsors and the monthly contributions of parishioners restored stained glass. Parishioners say that the then president of Energa Daniel Obajtek was at the masses.
Suddenly, however, the priest began to ask parishioners for money. What did he collect for? And this is for the purchase of church benches, for the pilgrimage to Israel, for the renovation of the presbytery, for the payment of remuneration for construction workers or a photovoltaic installation.

He said he had problems with the settlement of the subsidy and asked if I could borrow money. His wife lent him once, twice, third. In confirmation of transfers, we wrote that they were loans. Later it turned out that we were not alone, that there were many more of these people. They borrowed very different amounts, a total of PLN 2.5 million
– says Grzegorz.
Another victim Mr. Andrzej Krawczyk claims that Father Krzysztof assured that he needed the money « for a moment » to complete the work in the church in Ciekocin. He explained that he would get a loan from the bank for two weeks, and he must pay immediately to make the work progress.
Weeks passed. Mr. Andrzej and his wife began to demand a refund of the borrowed sum.
– The priest assured that he has money and he would come the next day. And he did not come – recalls Mr. Andrzej.

When we addressed the priest for returns, he delayed and said that he could not now, there is no. Suddenly one day he came out to us and said that in two or three days he would give away the money. Instead, during these two or three days he disappeared from the parish
– reports Mr. Grzegorz.
It was 2023. At PLN 3.5 million, it also consists of over PLN 1 million belonging to the Roman Catholic parish. Divine Mercy in Sasin. It was the parish that reported the case to the prosecutor’s office and in the documents appears as one of the victims. There are nearly 50 names on the list.
Father Krzysztof is suspected of misleading, appropriating the property entrusted to him and bringing to adverse disposal of property, because he never gave money.

The priest was to be moved to another parish in Gniew, but the trace of him was lost. On the website of the Pelplin diocese, there is an entry in the current office: There is currently no information.
– He didn’t fall underground. He tried to explain that it was not his fault, that if he stayed in Sasin, he would give away the money. And so the curia sent him far from people so that they could not find him. At one point he stopped answering the phones and reply to messages. I treated the priest completely differently than an ordinary man from the street. All the more the parish priest. And he made his private farm – says the embittered Mr. Andrzej.
The victims hoped to recover money. Meanwhile, the prosecutor’s office decided to suspend the investigation because he cannot find a suspect.
What does the curia say? Onet journalists contacted the spokesman for the Pelplin diocese, but Fr. Monsignor Dr. Ireneusz Smagliński has not yet answered their questions sent by e -mail.
