Says the Bloods have performed well
The FM95Blö boys, Auddi, Steindi and Egill, performed very well with the preparation for the Saturday night concert.
This is stated by Birgir Bárðarson, Managing Director of Sports and Exhibition Halls hf.
« Of course you can always criticize it. You are always wise afterwards, » says Birgir. However, many things can learn from the evening, tighten and improve.
« Ensure that this does not happen again »
« The work processes are in good shape and they were all followed, but there formed a person’s management problem that caused quite a terrible event in the lobby, » says Birgir. A lot of work has taken place in recent days, including watching camera recordings to analyze the situation even better.
« What happened, what happened, why this happened. In the hope of ensuring that it does not happen again. »
He says a new arrangement for events has been developed following Saturday night’s events. Do not tighten all aspects and hopefully ensures that it is possible to generalize that everything will be OK from now on. Birgir hopes that the elements he changes will also be fixed in other houses, « so that this will be for everyone to help ».
« We just continue to do this and hopefully I can give more information from me in the near future. I hope people understand that it will take time. »
« There is not much in concert »
Asked about the air quality and the Hall’s ventilation system, Birgir says she has improved the ventilation for the concert and it would have been in good shape.
« We have a meter and the average temperature at a height of two meters was 22 degrees. It is not much in the concert.
However, if you are in a banquet and run into the masses, you can totally expect to find heat from the next person, so you can find much hotter than it really is, « says Birgir, this also increased when consuming alcohol.
« All these things related to air quality and heat, it all went well. It was all in the process. The only thing that broke was steering. »
Only rumors that guests had pissed on the floor
Birgir corrects that the concert guests had not been 10,000, in fact they would have been around 8,600, based on the figures he has received.
« We are allowed to enter the house 11,000 people.
On the Facebook group Beauty Tips, users have said that access to the toilets had been bad enough that some concert guests had pissed on the floor. Birgir says only rumors that he has not yet been confirmed.
« We had a 22 -person team in cleaning and none of them have said anything about it. It was part of ensuring the safety of taking as much as possible, not to build some areas that would be dangerous. »
In your opinion, were there enough toilets, in your opinion, for 8,600 people?
« Look, now we are talking only about the duration too. There could always have been added. There was nothing going on.
Asked if these 134 toilet facilities are all open to the public, Birgir answers that four of them may be only intended for the house staff.
The palace can take 11,000 people
When you say there is a license for 11,000 people in the house, do you mean when all the palaces are used?
« There are also 11,000 people inside the exhibition hall, where the concerts themselves were.
The old palace, as we call it – where the food was – it is licensed for 5,500 people and the exhibition hall can take 11,000 people, but not at the same time. «
The security company « Always stand so far »
Do you have the experience of the security company Icelandic Security ehf.?
« Yes, we have it. He has always stood out so far. When we initially counted, I trust him to do his job just as he has done. »
Sources mbl.is say that the credentials have not been examined at the entrance and that guests had not been sufficiently searched for the entry of the concert, but two were arrested on Saturday night on suspicion of weapons.
Birgir says he does not intend to say how the process went on, but it is another thing he will have to review and « go through every single episode ».
« We are the house that has the most experience in big events. Our staff has tremendous experience. I myself have worked on this for fifteen years. I do not want anyone to encounter this. »
« Here everyone was on their toes »
Birgir reiterates that many other issues would have been OK when the trampling was running. About 7,000 people had been inside the hall and had not been aware that anything had happened.
« The program was interrupted. The next item was not launched until it had been ensured that it had been solved. These are all the work processes that came through me and my assistant who was on the scene.
Had not been followed – and the work processes we, me, the police, the fire brigade and the head of the guard, took a meeting immediately after the Saturday night incident – this could have been worse. Here everyone was on their toes. «
Then Birgir says it is not timely to say what exactly it could have done better in the preparation process, « so much has to be seen and a lot to go over ».
« We had a great collaboration with both the police and the fire brigade and with their involvement we managed this. »
