Savonian The blueberry rooster received a name protection from the EU Commission, says the Food Agency. The protection is based on a reputation as a traditional Savonian pastry.

A special feature of the blueberry flower is a solid structure, wild blacks and a crisp and sweet bark made mainly of rye flour.
The shape of the pastry varies from round to rectangular. The blueberry cock in Savonia is usually consumed as a dessert or as a coffee bread with whipped cream, vanilla ice cream or sauce.
The geographical area of Savolainen’s blueberry rooster is formed by the provinces of Northern Savonia and South Savo.
Name protection The purpose is, among other things, to increase the awareness of the products, to protect against counterfeits and to facilitate marketing.
Name protection is, for example, in Suonenjoki strawberries and French champagne.
The Blueberry Rooster’s protected geographical mark was sought by the Eastern Finland Agricultural and Household Women, who is part of the ProAgria Agricultural Organization.
