Saturday – a water bus start
Short track – an hour of swimming
For some of the passengers of the ship, especially with children, last year’s route has proven to be a long trip to both directions, so we wished to shorten it. This year, we offer passengers to choose two variants of the same route, long and short (see attached scheme, short track is marked in red).
When swimming on the short ring route, the journey begins and ends at the same Old Town stop and takes about an hour. It allows you to look at the river, from the river, and to look at the urbanized river banks. Schedules are marked with numbers in blue athletes.
Seven voyages will be made daily by this ring track, and to the Botanical Garden and Tauralaukis will be sailed five times.
Long track – for nature lovers
The traditional long water bus track will appeal to nature lovers. When the Liepų Street bridge was flushed, the coastline is not yet built. In early summer, the river and the shores are full of life, probably the best time for the season to admire nature. We cannot promise you will see beaver – it is difficult to agree on the show with these frightening animals living in the river, but you may notice the results of their performance on the coast.
The ship is electric, so it sails quietly and does not disturb the birds on the coast. This swimming route is ideal for those who are in a hurry, wanting to be comfortable and friendly to nature in its shelter.
Botanical Garden – the pride of Klaipeda
In the long version of the water bus route, the main attraction is the Botanical Garden of Klaipeda University. In six of his main collections and nineteen expositions, about 4,000 plant taxs are grown. There is something to admire in the garden at different times of the year, and in early summer, vegetation is revealed with all its beauty.
If you arrive at the garden, as last year, you need to call +370 463 98 833, the number is also indicated on the garden gate at the marina.

Tickets are not overwhelmed
Last year’s ticket prices have remained for this season and discounts are valid. The ticket costs the same way on both the ring route and in the traditional long one -way – 5 euros if the passenger is not entitled to a discount.
The amendments to the Law on Transport incentives have been detected this year for children and learning young people, and their ship’s tickets have also been significantly cheaper for them.
There are three ways to pay for the trip: money from E.Bilietė card or physical card of Klaipeda, contactless bank card, ticket purchased in E.TICket. By the way, we are already seeing tickets purchased in the ticket system now – this is probably the most expected passengers of the season.
The best time is by July
In the summer season, the bus is popular with guests of Klaipeda city. Since it cannot be carried by standing passengers according to the rules, there have been cases where passengers did not fit into the water bus in July and August. It, of course, thundered their plans and confused their mood.
And in June, everyone was accommodated. Therefore, for those who think about the tour of the river, we would suggest swimming now. All the more so, the nature of the coast is wonderfully beautiful in early summer.
This year the contract ends
The water bus route launched in 2023 according to a 3-year contract with UAB Klaipėdos Services, so this year is the last one under a valid contract. Continue the contract or not, the city government will have to decide. Although the operating losses of the route last year decreased from 16 to 13 thousand, such minor losses have to be covered by the city budget.
We hope that the more flexible selection of route route offered this season will allow you to balance the route economy and the water bus will not become the last one.
In Vilnius – the spectacular Neris flotilla
This summer, Klaipeda’s example should be followed by the city of Vilnius: the first four electric vessels will be expanded into the Neris. Compared to our modest and cozy boats, these are already large water buses – they hold 30-40 passengers. By 2027, the capital’s municipality plans to form eight such water bus fleet in the Neris.
However, Klaipeda was the first.
