Satisfaction of Russians by the environmental situation falls again – Kommersant
VTsIOM presented the annual index of Russians satisfaction with an environmental situation in their region. It is based on the results of the All -Russian telephone survey, in which 1.6 thousand citizens over 18 years old took part.
Researchers asked how the Russians evaluate the environmental situation in their village, and deducted negative answers from the positive ones. This year, the indicator amounted to 32 points (a possible result from –100 to 100). In general, 64% of respondents called the situation, for 32%, the situation seemed dysfunctional. Another 4% of respondents could not answer the question posed.
For the first time since 2017, the indicator has fallen. Up to this point, respondents, as a rule, negatively assessed the situation – and the calculated index was in the zone of negative values. But after 2017, the index grew steadily, having reached the historical maximum last year. In the same year, the indicator almost sank to the values of four years ago.
In past years, the VTsIOM associates the high values of the index with “switching the main attention of the population during 2023 and 2024 to the international agenda and sucker.” In the same year, in their opinion, dissatisfaction increased, including due to the spill of fuel oil in the Black Sea in December last year. “Earlier, the eco -leda simply fell out of the field of view of our compatriots. Thus, a decrease in the index does not mean that everything suddenly became critical with the environment: rather, it is a rollback to the conditionally stable meanings that have been preserved since 2018, ”the authors of the study suggest.
Sociologists also note that the degree of satisfaction with the environmental situation depends on the size of the village of the respondent. In most cases, the larger the settlement, the worse the situation is: the estimated index in rural areas today is 1.6 times higher than the medium -ry. Moscow and St. Petersburg are knocked out of the overall picture: the environmental situation in both capitals, according to residents, is almost as good as according to rural residents, sociologists add.
