Sales of new semi -trailers in Russia fell by almost 50%

Sales of new semi -trailers in Russia fell by almost 50%

The semi -trailers market is undergoing a crisis against the background of reducing the volume of cargo transportation, a high rate of lending and weak demand for tractors. Russian manufacturers do not have enough state support, they are considered in a profile association, and imported equipment was undergoing a utils collection increase. At the end of the year, industry participants predict a reduction in semi -trailers by at least 15%. The segment can return to growth after normalizing the transportation market and reducing the key rate of the Central Bank, the distributors hope.

Sales of new car semi -trailers in Russia in January -February decreased by 49%, to 3.7 thousand pieces, they told Kommersant in Rosspetsmash. The main causes of negative dynamics in the association are a high “key”, which led to “barrage rates” on commercial loans and leasing, as well as the complex financial situation of carriers.

The market drop in the market was largely affected by the decrease in trade in Russia, the director of the new semi -trailers of the GTS group of companies Artem Seregin was sure. Eduard Mironov, Director of the Purchasing of Transport Services in Russia, recalls that from about the middle of last year, a tendency to reduce the volume of cargo on pallets has been recorded in the auto transport segment. “We also observe the trend in 2025,” he notes, adding that the cause of such dynamics is a high rate of the Central Bank, which does not allow to take “cheap” money for business development. In addition, Mr. Mironov indicates the correlation of sales of semi -trailers with the tractic market, which, according to Avtostat, continues to decrease rapidly (see “Kommersant” of April 2). “The service life of semi -trailers is multiplying higher than the operating life of tractors, but there is still a relationship between the sales of this equipment. With a decrease in the volume of sales of tractors, the volume of sales of semi-trailers also falls, ”the top manager explains.

Dmitry Baban from SBS Consulting adds that the fall in the segment is also associated with utilSbor indexation. Especially strongly, according to the executive director of Akma Rus (the official distributor of the Aucma semi -trailers) Evgeny Golubev, this affected foreign brands. “Their sales fell to almost zero. At the moment, imported equipment imported before raising fees is being implemented. However, its sales often go at a loss or at cost, ”the top manager explains.

According to Russian manufacturers, according to Rosspetsash, according to the results of January – February, 79% of the sales of semi -trailers accounted. The share of imports in the market continues to contract, notes Mr. Golubev. “Chinese manufacturers cannot offer a competitive price for their products, and European cannot guarantee the stability of the supply of new equipment,” he explains.

Sales of Russian products decreased by 45% of the year, to 1.98 thousand units, noted in Rosspetsmash (data from companies that produce 70% of semi -trailers in the country). In particular, the shipments of grain vehicles in pieces were reduced by 86.8%, tent semi -trailers – by 79%, containers – by 62%, isothermal semi -trailers – by 43.1%, bituminous vehicles – by 33.4%, incentive semi -trailers – by 32.5%, trawls – by 29.7%, fuel trucks – by 28.6%. Self -sewing semi -trailers – by 18%. In « Avito Special Technics » in the TOP-3 brands include Tonar, Bonum and Luxuda. Following Grunwald and Interprac. Among the semi -trailers with the work with the most popular are the brands Schmitz Cargobull, Krone, Tonar, Kogel and COP.

The Rosspetsmash notes that Russian manufacturers are affected by the growing production costs, including the costs of components, electricity, and logistics. Another negative factor that affects demand is a revision of state support programs and financing volumes. The association also notes that it is necessary to maintain carriers and align the conditions of competition with foreign companies. In 2024, more than 8 thousand semi -trailers were brought to Russia from Germany and Poland, added to Rosspetsmash.

Experts and market participants predict a decrease in the semi -trailers market in the year. According to the chief strategist of the UK Vector Capital, Maxim Khudalov, sales will be below last year and will amount to about 43–44 thousand pieces. According to the National Agency for Industrial Information, 47.7 thousand semi -trailers were implemented in 2024. Dmitry Babansky expects a market reduction by 15–20%, and Mr. Seregin – by 30%. The market of semi -trailers, summarizes Evgeny Golubev, is experiencing a structural crisis. “We expect that sales growth will begin after normalizing the situation in the transportation market and reducing the key rate. In 2025, our forecast is rather negative, ”he says.
