Sales of new cars have grown in April
In April, the long -awaited, but probably short -term revival of sales occurred in the market of new cars in April. They dispersed the market for the deferred demand formed in unsuccessful February-March, as well as dealers’ discounts. However, in May and June-because of the holidays and the beginning of the vacation season-there is no need to wait for further positive dynamics. According to dealers and experts, the next surge of demand is expected no earlier than July.
Sales of new cars in Russia increased in April by 27.9% relative to last month, to 102.11 thousand pieces, calculated in Avtostat. The sharp dynamics is explained by the deferred demand formed for February and March, Maxim Kadakov, editor -in -chief of the magazine behind the wheel, believes. Expert Eiler Analytical Technologies Vladimir Bespalov adds that potential buyers began to understand that foreign brands that have left the Russian Federation not return to the country soon – and this also begins to affect demand. The seasonality factor, the ongoing discounts and the technical component (cars sold in the last two days of March, were registered with the traffic police in April) in total) led to the fact that April turned out to be quite successful, summarized by Avtostat, Sergey Tselikov. In annual terms, the market in April decreased by 25.5%, the reason for this is a high base, experts agree.
According to the Deputy General Director for Sales of New Avilon Cars, Avilon Renat Pageev, the main driver of the car market in April became the corporate sector.
“Mass supplies of cars for car sharing companies and large corporate customers provided a significant amount of sales on a number of brands,” he explains. Demand in the market, said the commercial director of the Fresh automotive market Evgeny Zhitnykhin, supported the expansion of the assortment, including through the arrival of new brands. Nikolai Ivanov, director of the Department of New Cars of Rolf, agrees that the main reason for the dynamics was the delayed demand factor. “The first quarter turned out to be very low in terms of sales,” he recalls. Although Avtodom CEO Andrei Olkhovsky is sure that market growth is exclusively associated with seasonality.
According to Avtostat, Lada remains the traditional leader in the Russian market in April. Brand sales relative to March increased by 13.2%, to 28.49 thousand pieces. In second place in the Chinese Haval, in a monthly expression, increasing the implementation by 32%, to 12.93 thousand pieces. Closes the top 3 CHERI with a result of 10.86 thousand pieces, which is 29% more compared to March. Next are Geely and Changan, the sales of which grew by 30%, to 6.66 thousand pieces, and by 22%, to 4.62 thousand units, respectively. A year by the year, seven out of the ten most popular brands demonstrate negative dynamics. The best models sold in April, according to Avtostat, were Lada Granta, Lada Vesta and Haval Jolion.
In January – April, sales of new cars were reduced by 25.4%, to 349 thousand pieces. “Here the growth is shown Jetour (plus 12.2%), Belgee (plus 39.7%) and Solaris (5.4 times). And the worst of all things are with Geely and EXEED, the sales of which collapsed more than half, ”the agency said.
Experts and market participants surveyed by Kommersant, notes that deferred demand continues to form on the market, but there are no prerequisites for its quick sale: sales are restrained by high credit rates.
Car drains, which, according to the estimates of the industry, reach 500 thousand pieces, are not significantly reduced. “The volume of sales on the market has not increased so much to talk about unloading almost half a million effluents. These are just different values, ”said Nikolai Ivanov. Against this background, importers, dealers and automakers retain discounts, clarify analysts. According to Mr. Zhitnykhin, discounts will continue until June-July.
A mild revitalization of demand in the market, according to Sergei Tselikov, will be replaced by a decrease in sales in May – up to about 80 thousand cars. Rolle predicts the reduction of the market to 85–90 thousand pieces, and in Avilon – up to 75–80 thousand cars. The main reason is to reduce the activity of buyers due to the large number of holidays, the dealers are unanimous. Most market participants believe that it is worth counting on the growth of sales – relative to April – no earlier than mid -summer. “In June, the low season will continue, because the children finish their studies and, accordingly, families plan vacations, which also requires financial costs. According to our expectations, only in July the dynamics of sales growth will be planned, ”summarizes Mr. Olkhovsky.
