Salacgriva will close in the first week of May due to a change of temporary bridge slabs / day

Transport traffic will be diverted by bypass during the bridge.

The LVC explained that the steel deck of the existing carriageway is ruptured regularly due to the transport load, so additional new boards should be welded, closing the traffic during these works.

It was decided to dismantle the additional plates of the additional welded slabs and install new single metal slabs instead, providing the maximum surface plain in the wheels in the driving area, the company said.

The LVC emphasizes that the technical condition of the temporary bridge is continuously monitored, including geodetic measurements of deformation each week and inspection of the bridge -bearing structures. The bridge was found to be safe for traffic.

LETA has already announced that since February 28, heavy transport over 44 tonnes is forbidden to cross Salaca along the temporary bridge in Salacgriva.

Heavy cars have a bypass route through Limbaži and Aloe on the Ducy-Limbazi (P53) or Koceni-Limbazi-Tuja (P11), Limbaži-Aloja (P13) and Ainazi-Matīši (P15).

Since August 30 last year, traffic over Salacgriva has been held through a temporary bridge with up to 52 tonnes. It will be used for traffic by the autumn of this year, when it is planned to complete the construction of the new bridge.

The existing bridge over Salaca was completely demolished and will build a new four span steel concrete beam bridge with new supports and steel beams.

On both sides of the bridge, a pedestrian sidewalk is expected to be created. On the side of the Ainazi side, the pavement will be connected to the existing pavement structure, which is built along the Salaca River, the sidewalk on the side of the Riga will be located locally, and new stairs will end. The pedestrian infrastructure will also be built on the bridge.

The development of the bridge project was commissioned by the municipality of Salacgriva (now Limbazi district), the author of the project is SIA « Projekts 3 », but the construction supervision will be provided by JSC « Road Projekts ». The construction of the bridge will be carried out by the general partnership « NB & Tilts », which consists of SIA « Nordes Būve » and SIA « Tiltts », for the proposed contract price of EUR 14,972 million excluding value added tax (VAT).

The construction of a new bridge in the third military mobility projects is co -financed by the European Infrastructure Connecting Tool (EISI).

The bridge over Salacu is located on the Tallinn highway (A1) and is part of the European Transport Network (TEN-T), as well as the European road route on the E67, or « VIA Baltica » section, which provides local and intergovernmental traffic as well as military mobility.
