Saeima factions have begun collecting signatures for the dismissal of the Ombudsman / Day

According to Edmunds Jurēvics, the leader of the « New Unity » Saeima faction, all factions represented in the Saeima have agreed that Janson has discredited the Ombudsman’s Office and agreed to start collecting signatures.

Under the Law of the Ombudsman, at least one -third of the members of the Saeima may propose the dismissal of the Ombudsman.

LETA has already announced that, due to the absence of Janson, the annual Ombudsman’s report was previously addressed by the Saeima, which raised questions about the reasons for his non -appearance. The situation was exacerbated by the fact that this is not the first time Janson has not come to the meeting, nor does he attend meetings of the Saeima commissions.

It has also been publicly reported that Janson often does not go to work and does not fulfill his duties because he has problems with alcohol consumption.

Janson himself told LETA on Thursday that he was currently not going to resign.

On Thursday, Jansons said in the Latvian Television program « Today’s issue » that he was likely to « take » from office. He also said that last year he still had « a lot of professional relationships » with his only deputy Ineta Piļāne, whom he had encouraged last year to claim the position of Ombudsman in the future. He acknowledged that at the moment the relationship between the two is « undoubtedly tension ».

Janson admitted that the Ombudsman’s Office had a conversation about his possible addiction. Asked if he had this addiction, he denied it. Asked what the causes of the office workers talked to him about it, he said, « See, people tend to forget. At good wages, at good working conditions, at good health insurance. (..) Very good, competitive pay. fourteenth years in this position « .

Asked why the office workers would face him, Janson said he could make various assumptions and speculate, but called for it to ask them themselves.
