The sad news can already ruin guests’ holiday plans before the summer has begun. Today, the Wadden Sea was blocked by an unusual trap for bathers and nature lovers as the coastline on the west side of Rømø received an unexpected prey from the sea.
The beach, which attracts thousands of holidaymakers, is now bathing in concern after an oil pollution spread along the coastline.
Authorities have responded promptly and declared a ban on residence in the water’s edge, while an effort screw was screwed up to uncover the scope of damage.

On the stage, inmate leader Torben Godballe from Fire and Rescue Southern Jutland is emerging as a front figure in coordination. He describes the situation as rare and serious:

Measuring airplanes have already been put in the air from the Danish Environmental Protection Agency, while municipal boats are on the water to scan the surface. The Municipality of Tønder has also rigged the danger zone and requested residents as well as tourists to follow the shut -off barriers.
The frustration is in oil drops when Godballe finds that « the oil lies in a lot of small lumps on the beach, » and points out the need for a complete overview before cleaning can begin.
An action plan that balances velocity with the protection of wildlife and nature is now on the drawing board.
While boardwalks are emptied of sunbathers, the team is working purposefully to reopen the coast safely.
But until the deeper secrets of the sea are mapped, Rømø’s famous resort will remain closed to water dogs – a reminder of how delicate coastal nature can be.
