S Group abandoned the plastic bags: return to cardboard boxes on food orders

At that time, the S Group explained the exchange of plastic bags by starting to be supplied by the products in the HOK-Elanto Collecting Center in stages. The center was introduced in June last year and had to find different packaging solutions.
A recent return to cardboard boxes took place at the collection center about a couple of weeks ago, says S Group’s food online store Emilia Ala-Kurikka.
According to Ala-Kurikka, the reason for the change is that the Vantaa Collecting Center finally got a cardboard folding machine.
« It took a surprisingly long time that it arrived, » Ala-Kurikka admits.
In addition, according to Ala-Kurikka, the challenge was to find cardboard boxes suitable for the collection center. The collection center in Vantaa is automation assisted That is, people work there with robots.
In the automated process, the products ordered by the customer are assembled in a plastic compartment where the cardboard box will be later ended up for the customer.
For this reason, according to Ala-Kurikka, the automated center had to find a cardboard box model that is the right size for its millimeters.
« Of course, we also heard our customers’ feedback, » Ala-Kurikka adds.
Thus, the boxes now arriving from the collection center to customers differ directly from the boxes coming from stores only for their size.
