Russians do not want to let artificial intelligence into power and courts – Kommersant
Most Russians support the introduction of artificial intelligence (AI) in key sectors of the economy, but against its use in the power, army and judicial law enforcement system. This follows from the results of the All -Russian survey of the company Russian Field, carried out by order of the New People party from March 13 to 20.
Among the industries in which the introduction of neural networks is “more acceptable”, the vast majority of respondents called industry, agriculture, construction and transport. The use of AI in education supported a little more than half of the respondents. In three more spheres of supporters of neural networks, there were less than half: the introduction of AI in state and municipal administration approved 42% of respondents, in military affairs – 41%, in law and order systems – 34% (see schedule).
The most loyal to AI respondents, sociologists note, are men, residents of large and middle cities, youth, people with higher education and more wealthy citizens. The Russians over 59 years old manifest the noticeably larger skepticism in this matter, although mostly a negative attitude to the introduction of AI into power, military affairs and judicial system is characteristic of all age groups.
Separate attention of the researchers was awarded the potential of neural networks in public administration. When asked if II can cope with tasks better than state and municipal employees, almost half of the respondents (49%) negatively answered. Most negatively, this perspective includes young people aged 18–29 years: 55% of them believe that a person in the civil service works better than artificial intelligence. 38% of respondents adhere to the opposite position: most often residents of large cities, people aged 30–44 years, citizens with higher education and a high income level.
Commenting on the results of the study, the chairman of the “new people” Alexei Nechaev wrote in his Telegram that, in general, the introduction of AI into technical and applied spheres “simplifies life and accelerates development”. But there are spheres where “people are not happy with artificial intelligence,” because, for example, they want their case to “disassemble a living person in court, not a soulless neural network”. “We believe that II can be introduced, but neatly. It will correctly consolidate the right to choose at the legislative level so that a person can always choose who will teach him, heal or judge – artificial intelligence or real, ”concluded Mr. Nechaev.
