Russian Foreign Ministry: Russian and US delegations in Istanbul discussed the work of embassies, renewal of flights and Russian diplomatic property
Russian and US delegations at a meeting in Istanbul agreed the steps to finance the work of the embassies and discussed the possibility of renewing direct air traffic, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
The meeting, held in Istanbul yesterday, lasted nearly six and a half hours, and the Russian delegation was led by the director of the North Atlantic Department of the Foreign Ministry Alexander Darciev, while the US delegation was led by US Assistant Secretary of State.
According to the statement, it was agreed during the talks to take joint measures to ensure smooth financing of the activities of diplomatic missions. Russia has also urged Washington to consider re -establishing direct air traffic between the two countries.
In addition, the topics of talk covered Russian diplomatic property in the United States, which was illegally seized between 2016 and 2018, as well as ways to overcome numerous problems and disagreements in bilateral relations.
The Russian Foreign Ministry described the meeting as « contained and business ».
