Russian espionage warning to NATO
Russia and Belarus are prepared to amplify spy actions against NATO goals related to the Ukraine war, The Times reports. Russian espionage officials say it is necessary for Russia to adopt an offensive attitude in this area, due to NATO challenges coming from the neighboring countries with Russia.
« Security services in Russia and Belarus are preparing for » preventive « measures against NATO states, the head of Russian espionage (SVR), Sergei Narîșkin, », writes The Times. Narîșkin has accused NATO of intensifying his military activity near Russia and Belarus. Belarus is the most important European ally of Russia and the Kremlin has used Belarus for attacks against Ukraine. Moscow has announced that it has transferred nuclear weapons to Belarus.
« We feel and see that European countries, especially France, the United Kingdom and Germany, raise the level of escalation in the Ukrainian conflict and we must act preventively. We are prepared for it, » Narîșkin told Minsk, along with President Belarus Aleksandr Lukașenko.
In an interview published on Tuesday, the head of SVR said that Russia will cause damage to the entire alliance, if NATO threatens Russia or Belarus, and the first countries to suffer will be Poland, Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. In the interview for Ria Novosti, Narîșkin has accused that « the current major and very dangerous crisis in Europe » is due to NATO’s intensification of military activities at the border with Belarus and Russia. « Poland and the Baltic Republics are aggressive, at least at the level of statements, and at war. I should understand, but I do not understand yet, in the case of NATO aggression (Russia-Belarus), the entire NATO block will undergo damages, but the first to suffer will be the ones in Poland, » Russian espionage.
Poland and Baltic states announced in March that they are withdrawing from the Ottawa Convention on Mining Prohibition, for fear of Russian aggression. Narîșkin said that Poland intends to put about two million anti-tank mines along the border with Belarus and Kaliningrad.
The Times recalls that, in the last year, several NATO goals have been burned in Europe, actions that are suspected of being put up by Russian espionage. Daily Mail wrote about an entire operation of Russian secret services to pay the West criminals for sabotage shares. Now, The Times notes that Serbia and Hungary (countries that have good relations with Russia) have not been touched also assumed sabotage acts. « A report by the Center for Strategic and International Studies shows that the number of attacks was tripled between 2023 and 2024, and between 2022 and 2023 their number had increased four times. Despite the multiplication of Russia’s attacks, the western countries have not set up any effective strategy, » writes The Times.
A year ago, the head of the British AGA agency of the US NSA said that Russia encourages cyber attacks in the West and, in some cases, seems to coordinate physical attacks against the West. «
