Russia rejects the pressures of Western powers

Russia rejected on Saturday the ‘pressures’ exerted on it in order to accept a 30 -day armistice in Ukraine, as well as the new ‘sanctions’ threats formulated by Western powers, informs the DPA.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov told Russian television that Moscow will not be intimidated and that she is already used to punitive measures.

« We are already thinking about what we will do after these sanctions will be imposed, how we minimize their consequences, » Peskov said. « Trying to scare us with sanctions is futile, » Peskov said.

US President Donald Trump and European leaders have warned new sanctions if Russia refuses the armistice.

The new German Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz warned Moscow with a massive sanctions’ if the Russian president refuses the 30 -day armistice in his conflict against Ukraine. In the absence of a reaction of the Kremlin, a massive tightening of sanctions will take place and the massive help for Ukraine will continue. Politically, of course, but also financially and military, « Merz said in an interview for the German daily Bild.

Moscow had previously formulated conditions for any break in fights, including stopping Western weapons for Ukraine.

German federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz, French President Emmanuel Macron, British premiers Keir Starmer and Polish Donald Tusk were on Saturday in Kiev, where they proposed to Moscow a complete and unconditional armistice for 30 days, starting Monday.

The European Union and the US have already imposed several series of sanctions against Russia, in the effort to lack this country of economic means to support its war against Ukraine.

Even though these measures have created significant challenges in front of Russia, including limited access to Western technologies, analysts notes the surprising resilience of the Russian economy.

As an exporter of raw materials, Russia continues to win billions of oil and gas sales, revenues that allow them to feed their war economy.
