Russia has credited another small amount of pensions to its citizens, but more than 3 million euros / day is missing
As LETA informed the SSIA, only nine people were sufficient for the money paid a week ago. Prior to that, on April 9, the SSIA had transferred € 21,369 to its citizens who live in Latvia for the payment of pensions and social insurance funds to its citizens living in Latvia.
The SSIA has made transfers to the accounts listed in the list, but the ninth of the listed people had expired.
The Russian side has not currently provided information on pension for other persons.
The SSIA has still not received the payment of pensions and social insurance pensions from the Russian Federation for the first quarter transfer of the necessary funding in full amount, which is approximately € 3.5 million. According to the SSIA, more than 9,000 Russian citizens living in Latvia were paid in the fourth quarter of 2024.
In May this year, Russia should transfer to the second quarter pensions of 2025. According to the SSIA, there is no practical obstacle transfer. This is also evidenced by the fact that small amounts have been transferred to Russia without any hassle.
As Russia delayed to provide funding for the costs of its citizens’ pensions, the SSIA has requested a list of renewed pension recipients, as provided for in Latvia and Russia’s agreement on social security and the agreement on the application of the Treaty.
The SSIA points out that despite the calls and reminders of Latvia so far, the Russian side has still not fulfilled its obligations to recipients of Russian pensions in Latvia – has not transferred full pension funding and has not submitted a list of renewed persons to allow Russian pension costs for the first quarter of 2025.
According to the Russian side’s obligations, funding had to be transferred to the payment of pensions in February. There are no practical obstacles for the transfer. This is also evidenced by the fact that Russia has transferred military pension funding in full.
In 2023, when a similar situation occurred, the number of pensions had been received from Russia, but the transfer of money needed to pay pensions was delayed.
In cases where Russia’s retirement costs have caused their recipients to pay for the needs of urgent everyday life, the Ministry of Welfare calls for help in the social services of their municipalities.
