Russia calculated damage from the oil spill in the Black Sea at 85 billion rubles
Almost 85 billion euros are the damage that the shipowners of the two tankers will have to pay in the eastern Black Sea in December, causing severe environmental pollution with fuel oil.
This is the amount that the Russian State Agency for Consumer Protection announced on Friday. It equates to about 900 million euros, or about 1.7 billion levs.
The shipwreck, which took place in a stormy sea, led to the split of one of the tankers and the sowing of the shallow of the other, with their contents poured into the sea, causing pollution into an area of thousands of miles from the anaa on the east coast of the Black Sea to Odessa in the northwest part.

The investigation of the reasons for the ecological disaster has shown that it is due to the non -compliance with the captains of the ships and their owners – the Russian Volgatranneft and Kama -Shatoping companies, the restrictions on the vessels of the ships in the maritime regions of the Azov Sea and the Kerchen Strait. In addition, the crews of the ships were not completed by qualified staff, said Russian Transport Minister Roman Starovight, quoted by the agency.
The two tankers were for requested for river fuel transport and were not allowed to enter the sea during the winter season.
