Russia and Iran have negotiated 55 billion cubic meters of Russian gas transit
Preliminary agreements were reached at a time when the United States seeks to isolate Iran from the rest of the world, unless Tehran agreed to a new inspection agreement on its nuclear sites. |
Russia deepened its ties with Iran after the start of the war in Ukraine and signed a strategic partnership agreement with Tehran in January. Both countries are under Western Western sanctions, and exports of Russian oil and gas to Europe have decreased sharply.
Russia has a long history of cooperation with Iran and has helped to build a nuclear reactor in Bushechr, in the southern part of the country to be the first in Iran.
Not quite direct negotiations with Trump’s approximate: The famous US – Iran
Iranian Minister of Petroleum Mohsen Pacnezad is visiting Moscow this week. On Friday, he met with Russian Energy Minister Sergei Civilev as part of an intergovernmental committee.
The two countries have agreed to a 55 billion cubic meter of gas, while the new nuclear power plant in Iran will be built with funding under a Russian credit line, Shana Agency reported. |
Although Iran owns the second largest gas reserves in the world after Russia, the country is importing gas – including Turkmenistan due to a serious shortage of investment, in part as a result of US sanctions.
Civilian, speaking alongside Pacnejad, said Russia could supply 1.8 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Iran this year at a price that has not yet been agreed.
The amount of 55 billion cubic meters is similar to the volume of gas through Nord Stream 1carried through the underwater pipes to Europe, which were blown up in 2022. Since then, there has been no gas transfer. |
Pacnejad said Iran will sign an agreement of $ 4 billion with Russian companies to develop seven Iranian oil fields.
Pacnejad and the Russian minister have signed the final documents of the bilateral agreements after the meeting of the Russo-Iranian Economic Committee without indicating details.
