Runs with fertilizer on all forces
« The times are good and farmers have begun to consider spring works. They have begun to call for the fertilizer so I can have everything.
He operates for Sláturfélag Suðurlands, which is active in imports and selling fertilizers to farmers around the country. There are farmers in Hunavatnssýsla and on the beaches a large group and service to them, the business and transport home on the farm is Peter’s job for years. He does, however, take care of many others, as well as on land, many posts have to be human, so this strange phenomenon called society works properly.
600 kg in the sack
A journalist met Peter in the days when he was moving to fertilizer at the harbor in Hvammstangi. This spring, Peter handles a total of 2,500 tonnes of fertilizers, which bring four cargo ships. Three of them lie down in Hvammstangi and the fourth on Sauðárkrókur. The fertilizer comes in large sacks and each takes 600 kg. It is common then that on a truck truck in each trip, 45 such people get and then drive.
The common price of fertilizers today is just under 100 thousand. kr. per ton. Three years ago, only after the invasion of Ukraine, however, the price was much higher and was close to 120 thousand. kr. tonnes at its peak. Now things and prices have been balanced to some extent and with that benefit.
Goes out to Skaga and north in Arneshrepp
« The roads this spring are true to say incredibly good and carry the cars well; at least the trips with heavy cargo are not many. Certainly, the gravel roads are rather shameful, but this has completely escaped this spring, » says Peter about his fertilizer trips. They are to the foremost valleys and out on the outer nest, as is sometimes said in a little upstream style, except what is the case here in the fullest sense of the word. On large Volvo cars that Peter makes, two rather than one, is driven around all the forces and nothing left.
« Here in Húnaþing I take fertilizer to Skaga, into Vatnsdalur and around the Middle Fjord and on the beaches all the way north in Arneshrepp. The platform, although farmers are actually many who have become incredibly well equipped, ”says Peter.
Fun interaction with the people in the countryside
The fertilizer that the SS imports and sells is from the Yara species and comes from factories in Norway, Finland and Germany. This is a very fertilizer, it is that in each cereal there are nitrogen, phosfor and cold. The mixture is called the NPK professional, but there the main nutrients that need in the dust are together so that vegetation can be faded and the meadow can be managed.
« Farmers’ experience of these fertilizers has been good and many people choose Yara; people in the countryside, which I find very fun to meet and interact with, » says Pétur Daníelsson, who has been in the truck and machinery operation in Húnaþing for half a century.
