Rumen Radev raised the question why ruling blocks the construction of a gunpowder
In a comment to reporters, President Rumen Radev criticized the government for their behavior in the EU debate to strengthen her defense security. He has announced the requested investment plan of € 800 billion in security for Fanfari, which he is in no hurry to join.
He pointed out that there are European investors waiting for the green light to invest in defense equipment in Bulgaria and reminded that for years a Bulgarian company has wanted to produce gunpowder, but the governments have not allowed it so far.
The European Fanfari
According to Radev, the announced plan within the EU to spend a total of 800 billion euros in investment to improve defense are « fanfari », which he is in no hurry to join. The reason is that these are loans, and in addition, Member States have to give up projects in a number of other areas – the water supply, the environment, the social and direct defense money.
« There is some enthusiasm that you see there will be 800 billion euros for investment in the defense industry, but it should be clear that there will be no such money. There will be loans plus the possibility of refusing structural and cohesion funds … as well as the opportunity for money for dropped projects on the recovery plan to target defense, » he announced.
The European Commission offers a general defense plan for EUR 800 billion
He stressed that the government expects the government to approach very responsibly and critically to « all kinds of Bulgarian engagements in this case ».
It has announced that funds are important, but more important is the attitude of the state on these issues. And that the modernization of the army and the strengthening of the defense industry must be a constant and conscious commitment of voyage power that does not wait for Brussels to remember it.
There is a difference between the end of the war and the security
According to Radev, Bulgaria and Europe are facing two important trials – the cessation of the bloodshed in Ukraine and the overcoming of the lag in the field of security. He pointed out that both are important, but a distinction should be made between them. « The last Council in Brussels is very much about re-wearing and almost nothing about ending the war in Ukraine, which has drawn Europe to the bottom, except for the tales of peace through force that sounds more and more unrealistic from Europe, » he commented.
Ivaylo Mirchev: Radev is on the side of the Kremlin, his position is the most impertinent possible
It has announced that the last European Council has been spoken greatly about security and not a word about stopping the war in Ukraine.
He recalled his initiative on the eve of the Bulgarian EU Presidency, when his proposal was accepted by people who are now in parliament and the government, Bulgaria to take a leading role in the processes of building a common European defense, so that the Bulgarian defense industry would be more fully integrated into European projects.
Obstacles to investors
He pointed out that at the same time many foreign companies have an interest in investing in Bulgarian defense industries, pointing out that in order to expand specifically those in high technology, a partnership with foreign businesses is needed. He pointed out that Bulgaria is increasingly targeting such – in drones, antidron hystems, optical appliances and more.
He specifically named German companies he had met and whatever meetings were to come, in his words, strongly engaged to come here, but the state must provide them with conditions. Did not indicate what.
He drew attention to the permanent refusal of governments, pointing to this « to the assembly » and Dimitar Glavchev, for the Bulgarian Copania, who wants to build large capacities for gunpowder. It motivates the importance of the project by the fact that Bulgaria receives its main revenue in defense from the production of ammunition, for which gunpowder is a major raw material, which is also deficient in Europe. He pointed out that the project came across « full blockage » in both governments. He hoped that since he had raised this issue at meetings of the National Security Advisory Board, he had notified the governing in writing, they finally respond.
In the case, SANS, where Danz was appointed years ago, was appointed Delyan Peevski, but after protests withdrew, had a positive opinion and then withdrawn it. President Rumen Radev and MRF leader New Beginning have repeatedly demonstrated dislike for each other, and Peevski himself has repeatedly made public insult to the Head of State.
