Rui Malheiro is not a candidate for IL leadership

Rui Malheiro lists the various events that have affected the party: « Rui Rocha’s resignation from the presidency of the Liberal Initiative Party two weeks after the legislative elections, not assumption of the party presidency for either of its vice-presidents, the party’s National Council was called to pronounce on a new elective convention four months after the last one took place. »

Rui Malheiro revealed on Tuesday that he will not present himself as a candidate for the leadership of the liberal initiative, after losing the last elections for Rui Rocha, reached 26.6% of the votes against 73.4%.

« With the awareness that the party union is currently fundamental to overcome such a sudden crisis as unnecessary, knowing that the party’s focus at this time should be out of doors and not within them, with the sense of responsibility I have always assumed since I entered politics and coincidentally in this large party, I will not present myself as a candidate for the leadership of the Liberal Initiative Party, » he justifies.
