Rubio has announced a comprehensive reorganization of the American State Department
The State Department is an overwhelming, bureaucratized and incapable of performing its basic diplomatic mission in the new era of competition between the major powers, and will therefore be comprehensively reorganized, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said today.
He pointed out that the US foreign authority has been quite consolidated for the past 15 years. Although costs have grown sharply, it has not resulted in expected profit from investment. Instead of efficient diplomacy, taxpayers received a service that, he said, serves more radical political ideology than America’s key national interests.
« To realize President Trump’s foreign policy ‘in the first place’, we have to make the State Department big again, » Rubio said.
He announced the reorganization, which would « introduce the 21st century department », through consolidation of regional functions, abolishing duplicate and eliminating programs that are not in line with US strategic priorities. Rubio said the change would provide greater efficiency between various agencies, directors and US embassies around the world.
-We have a commander -in -chief who is committed to put Americans and Americans first. As his secretary of state, I am convinced that the reformed State Department responds to this moment, helping us to make our country big again – he added.
