Round table between tenants and landlords failed
Landlords no longer feel like: The round table for rents is already history again
What helps against the high housing costs? Tenants and landlords wanted to discuss this together. But the talks have already failed after an edition.
There is a round table less. Federal Councilor Guy Parmelin has canceled an exchange on tenancy law. The reason: « Some of the associations had signaled not to be interested in continuing the dialogue at the moment, » says a message. It would have been the second round of talks on this topic.
Anyone who has withdrawn the background leaves the economic department open in their message. The tenant association Switzerland (MV) makes significant announcements. In a message, he blames the landlord for the failure of the summit. « Obviously, the real estate lobby weights its particular interests higher than a dialogue in favor of all people living in Switzerland, » he writes in pithy words. It is a sign that the real estate lobby is not interested in solutions.
MV Vice President Michael Töngi is at a loss: “There were no suggestions on the table yet. There was no reason to leave the discussion now. » It suspects a certain indifference to the concerns of the tenants in Switzerland or at least a good portion of arrogance behind the withdrawal. He also believes that the landlord still hopes to push through its interests in parliament: « So far, the real estate lobby has always been able to rely on its center-right majorities. »
Dispute of the initiative
The tenant association only launched a rental price initiative last week. This is intended to anchor the cost rent in the law and thus prevent excessive returns. In addition, government rent controls are to be introduced.
At the home owner association HEV, nobody was available for a statement on request. FDP National Councilor Olivier Feller, General Secretary of the West Swiss Home Owner Association, but the initiative for the failure of the conversations to the agency Keystone-Sda. It is an attack on the foundations of tenancy law. In this climate heated by the tenant side, it could not be constructively spoken about an balanced tenancy law revision.
Federal Councilor Parmelin regrets the rejection of the round table, which would have taken place during the summer session. He would continue to work for « constructive solutions ». The exchange was launched after the two rental votes from last November. At that time, the vocal people at the urn had surprisingly said no to the landlord’s concerns.
