Romania will produce the Otokar Cobra II armored
The Turkish company Otokar, part of Koç Group – the largest industrial conglomerate in Turkey, has signed a Joint Venture Agreement with SA MEDIAȘ Automecanica, one of the most important Romanian companies in the defense industry. The objective of the partnership is the local production of the Armored Vehicles Cobra II 4 × 4 ATBTU, intended Ministry of National Defense of Romania.
The new mixed company, owned in equal proportions (50%-50%) by OTOKAR LAND SYSTEMS SRL and SA SA, will carry out production, engineering, marketing and post-sales services. About 800 armored vehicles are to be manufactured within the automechanical facilities in Mediaș.
Automechanica is owned by the German group Rheinmetall, one of the global leaders in the defense industry, which adds an extra strategic relevance to the partnership.

The Cobra II vehicle, intended for various tactical missions, is known for its high mobility, advanced ballistic protection and versatility in difficult land. The project « 1059 Cobra II ATBTU », carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense, aims to modernize the defense capabilities of Romania, in an increasingly marked regional context.
