Rob de Nijs-Musical comes to Antwerp: « He was incredibly proud of this performance » (Antwerp)

Not only is the life of one of the most popular Dutch -speaking artists ever, also figures such as Jan Klaassen de Trompetter, Sister Ursula and Malle Babbe are popping up in this new musical. Rob de Nijs experienced it himself, because the show started playing a month before his death. Shortly before the premiere he came to see, from his wheelchair in an empty room, his wife Jet by his side. « He was incredibly proud of this performance, » says Jet. « For Rob it was important that his story was told with the humor and imperfection that typed him. »

Silly babbe So is much more than just a concert or a sticky homage. The musical shows Rob de Nijs as he was, from the triumphs in music to his not always successful love. René van Kooten, one of the largest Dutch musical stars, can play the role of Rob de Nijs and big hits as Banger Hart,,  » Rhythm of the rain and Photo from the past play. For René it was of course very special that he could play the musical for Rob de Nijs himself.

« He was so proud of this performance, » he still enjoys that moment. « Via the musical we continue to honor Rob’s life and oeuvre. His story deserves to live on. This role is one of the most intense in my career. It is an honor that we can now also share this musical with the Belgian audience. »
