River would be granted the status of a legal entity
The Hay River, which runs through Paris, is the subject of songs, songs, art paintings, in recent years, especially during last year’s Summer Olympics, has also been the subject of guesses, measures, discussions and online scarves. The city authorities have been striving for a long time to make it more friendly by cleaning it and bringing it closer to them as a bath; Participants in the Olympics as a competition. That everything was fine with her, the people wanted to prove by the fact that they bathed in it themselves – the mayor Anne Hidalgothe main promoter of the project, was overtaken by the Minister of Sport Amélie Oudéa-Castéra – and among the people, these feats caused more horror and ridicule than enthusiasm.

Now Paris wants to grant the main « stars » of the Olympics a special status, which is part of the broader efforts to allow natural resources, such as rivers, seas, mountains and forests, by granting legal status and basic rights to more effective protection. On Wednesday, the City Council, with a resolution, called on the French Parliament to award the river legal subjectivity. In doing so, they want to be able to defend the river in any legal proceedings and protect its sensitive ecosystem more efficiently. This status allows the legal entity to become the holder of rights and obligations within the legal order.
The Parisian city authorities justified their initiative at the conclusions of the Convention of the City of the City of Hay Between March and May. It was attended by fifty randomly selected Parisians, who decided that the river should be considered as an ecosystem that is not owned by anyone, has the right to exist, flow and self -esteem, and in which maintenance of life must have an absolute advantage before everything else.

« The hay must be able to defend itself as a legal entity and not as a facility, as it will always be at risk, » emphasized Anne Hidalgo, who announced in May that the city authorities would hold the word they gave during the Olympic Games, and allowed the residents to swim in three parts of the river. Despite its extensive and expensive cleaning, the river is still threatened by pollution, increasing water temperature and using pesticides in agriculture.
As the first country in the world, in 2017, New Zealand was recognized by the law as a living being. In a similar case, that it could better protect its endangered ecosystem, in 2022 Spain awarded the legal status of Laguni Mar Menor, one of the largest salty lagoons in Europe.
