Extraordinary controls are under way, and they will be more intensively implemented after Easter and there is no delay, says Deputy Minister of Economy and Labor Marjan Risteski on the implementation of the legal measure that traders oblige their websites to publish product prices and update them daily.

According to Risteski, the warnings will first arrive, and the penalties for the failure to implement the measure that began to apply yesterday are from 500 to 10,000 euros.

– As the measure began to apply, the Market Inspectorate has extraordinary controls. There will be enhanced controls after Easter holidays. The penalties for all those who fail to respect this transparency through their websites, contained in the Law on Consumer Protection, are from 500 to 10,000 euros-said Risteski.

All traders are expected to respect the measure and there is no delay, although there were certain requirements, especially pharmacies. Meeting them is possible next week.

– We expect all retailers to respect the measure. The measure came into force on March 4. There was a period of 45 days to adjust. I think that period is enough. Many traders already have their own websites, they just had to introduce price lists and what the law provides. There will be no delay. I know that there are certain demands and as the minister announced, maybe next week we will have a meeting with some of those associations of pharmacies, retailers. There will be no delay, it should be applied and implemented, in the interest of protecting the standard of the citizens through the transparent publication of all prices, that is, the citizens can decide for themselves where they would buy the products and at what price – said Risteski.

With this and other measures it is expected that in the longer term there will be protection of the standard of living of the citizens.
