But it doesn’t stop here.
The next action in this fascinating tale is a 10-day online auction organized by Creative Rides, where selected gems from ‘The Lost Barn Find Collection’ will be offered for sale.
The collection contains rare classics from recognized brands such as Mercedes Benz, Chevrolet, Ford, Cadillac, Porsche and BMW, just to name a few.
Auctioneer Joff van Reenen shares his amazement over the find and describes it as ‘surreal’.
He draws a picture of an epic ending to an adventure that began with a simple phone conversation from Oom Louis Coetzer’s daughter, Lida van der Merwe.
She had contacted Van Reenen to talk about the complicated situation that arose in connection with the sale of a piece of land.
However, it was not until the daughter and her siblings decided to investigate the remote that the entire scope of their father’s passionate collection work over five decades was revealed.
The late car enthusiast, Oom Louis Coetzer, had secretly gathered an impressive selection of classic cars, often to great surprise to his children on their trips to and from school.
With the auction in sight, it is now possible for car enthusiasts and collectors to own a piece of this unique collection.
