Right populist Wilders announces Dutch coalition
The government coalition in the Netherlands broke in the dispute over migration policy. The populist Geert Wilders explained the withdrawal of his radical right party from the four-party coalition, in which it was involved as the strongest force.
He had previously threatened to let the coalition burst if his demands for a mercilessly tough course in asylum policy were not met. Millions of Dutch expected the implementation of a corresponding ten-point plan of his party for freedom (PVV), Wilders wrote on Sunday on Sunday
The PVV boss added: « Let me be very clear: If the majority of our suggestions from the ten-point asylum plan do not take over (and thus added to the coalition agreement) and the government will not implement it as quickly as possible, the PVV will escape from this coalition. » Wilders has now perceived the threat.
Wilders wants to send Syrian refugees back
The PVV, the strongest force in parliament since the recent choice, demanded that the borders close to all asylum seekers. If necessary, the army had to be used to control the borders, Wilders explained a week ago when the plan was presented. Tens of thousands of Syrian refugees should be sent back to their homeland and asylum centers should be closed. In addition, Wilders calls for an end to the family reunification for recognized refugees and the designation of delinquent people with double nationality, whereby the Dutch must then be revoked.
There were support for these demands in the previous government coalition, partly by the populist party BBB. The right -wing Liberal VVD and the Center Party NSC are critical of them. One would be much further, said the VVD, if the Asylum Minister Marjolein Faber belonging to the Wilders Party had delivered the « structural solutions » that had been agreed in the formation of the coalition. Now you need another solution: a new coalition.
