Riga City Council’s new term could have at least six fractions / days

Voter survey data show that the « Progressive » party could have received the highest or 19.9% of respondents. It would be followed by the « Latvia Latvia » party with 17.3% of voters, but with 15% of the voters, the National Association could be followed.

Slightly less, or 12.2% of the vote, could be for the party’s « Sovereign Copper/Young Latvians », which, with 11.8% of the vote, would be followed by the political organization « New Unity » represented by the former mayor of Riga.

The Riga City Council could also enter the combined list, which could have been voted by 7% of voters.

On the other hand, the « stability » party, which could have been voted by 4.7% of voters, is very close to the 5% limit, which can be obtained in the municipality.

« Latvia’s development » could have been 3.6% of the vote, the « Honor to serve Riga » and the joint list of the Greens and Farmers Union could have gained 3% of the voters, while « Harmony » could have only reached 2.8% of the vote.

Compared to the previous Riga City Council elections, the number of people who did not want to reveal their choice – about one third, or 31% of the surveyed. Among them, the proportion of Russian speakers – 45%. It can be predicted that the « Latvia Latvia first place », « sovereign power » https://www.dien.lv/ « Jaunlatvians », « Stability! » And perhaps the official result of the Harmony will also be higher than the survey presented, while the « progressive », the National Union, the « New Unity », the combined list and possibly also « Latvia’s Development » and « Honor to serve Riga »/the Union of Greens may decrease.

It should also be borne in mind that this year, compared to the previous municipal elections, the election procedure has been changed and voters can vote in any of their municipalities. These changes can affect the results of the survey.

This survey was not interviewed in the previous vote.

Methodological support was provided by the Market and Public Opinion Research Center SKDS.

In the polls at the polling stations, the interviewers were randomly questioned nearly 6,500 of their choice of citizens in Riga, Daugavpils, Rezekne, Jurmala, Liepaja and Ventspils. The interviewers were found at more than 70 districts.

On Saturday, polling stations were closed.
