Rezekne City Council elections – double competition / day

This year 133 people out of 10 lists are standing for 13 deputies in Rezekne City Council elections. Four years ago there were only five lists in the city and won 63.19% Harmony With Alexander Bartashevich at the forefront. Much has changed since then.

Since July 2 last year, there is a temporary administration in the city, as the Saeima decided to dismiss the Rezekne City Council. However, the fact of dismissal does not stop the former mayor team – now parties Together for Latvia and parties led by Ainars Slesers Latvia in the first place (LPV) on the overall list – again to stand for places in the municipality. The opposite is true of the situation Minister Inga Berzina (JV), the Minister of Smart Administration and Regional Development, who, released by the ministry, emphasizes that such a decision of the ST is a confirmation that the main task of the municipality is to work in the interest of the inhabitants of its administrative territory in ensuring democracy and the rule of law. « The temporary administration of Rezekne National Municipality, under the leadership of Guna Puce, has so far been able to adopt a balanced 2025 budget, already in 2024, the year was concluded, reorganizing the budget and closing the year with actually covered debts.
