Revolt in the camp of Gjadri, three slightly wounded with a knife
Just days after arriving on Albanian soil and accommodated in the camp of Gjadri, immigrants brought from Italy have caused tension. Although the outside the situation seemed calm, the Italian media reveals that the tension during these two days was not lacking inside the Gjadri camp. According to neighboring media reports, some of the immigrants being held in Gjader from April 11 have been revolted, committing acts of violence. About 20 immigrants have damaged the rooms where they are staying and destroyed some of the equipment inside them.
According to the same sources from beyond the Adriatic, 3 of the immigrants received minor knife injuries. Immediately after the incident, the Italian authorities reacted, managing everything that happens inside the camp, putting the problem immigrants in isolation, which are being monitored.
Regarding the tension within the Albanian camp, the Italian media have asked their interior minister, Mateo Piamentasi, who has confirmed that the contingent is problematic, as there are also accused or convicted of serious crimes, including attempted murder, sexual violence, injuries, pornography, robbery and narcotics.
The 40 immigrants who arrived at Shengjin by ship ‘Libra’ on April 11 are a criminal contingent so they were rejected asylum in Italy. They will stay in the camp of Gjadri until they are repatriated to their countries of origin. The maximum stay in Albania will be 18 months.
The Gjadri camp was conceived to temporarily accommodate the asylum seekers saved in the sea by Italian ships. But with the new decree of the Meloni government, « Gjadri » will serve as a detention center for immigrants who are no longer right asylum and are expected to be deported to their countries of origin. /Tch/
