Reuters: The EU discusses sanctions on persons involved in the use of chemical weapons in Ukraine

The European Commission’s proposal mentions a list of 15 legal entities and natural persons related to hybrid threats from Russia, as well as persons suspected of using chemical weapons in Ukraine, says Reuters.

In parallel, according to Reuters, a third set of measures was discussed, which will add 25 legal entities and individuals suspected of violating human rights to the sanction list.

Reuters sources also report that the EU may include a Russian oil company Surgutneftegaz, which the United States has imposed sanctions in January within large -scale measures against Russian energy trade.

Earlier it became known that the 17th package of European Union sanctions against Russia will be prepared for the EU Council meeting in foreign affairs May 2025.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barro said that the European Union seeks his next package of sanctions against Russia prepared and approved in coordination with the United States.
