Request the elimination of allowances
USR requests the voting next week of the project that provides for the elimination of allowances granted to the members of ATOP (public order territorial authorities).
According to a statement sent on Saturday, the USR asks the Defense Commission to give a favorable report to the project and the management of the Chamber of Deputies to introduce the project on the agenda of the plenary.
« In 2020, over 10 million lei were spent from the public budget for these allowances. A completely unjustified cost for some monthly sessions without real impact in the citizen’s safety. The project submitted by me is blocked for years in the drawers of the Defense Commission in the Chamber of Deputies, but now it can be unlocked, and this will be unlocked. Already on the table: the USR project is needed only for political will, ”said USR Pollyanna Hangan, project initiator, quoted in the statement.
The legislative project of the USR, initiated in 2021, aims to completely eliminate allowances for ATOP members, thus reducing the « waste of public money and eliminating a form of political syne ».
« USR calls for all parliamentary parties to demonstrate responsibility for public money and vote for the project. There is no need for statements and promises, the solution already exists. It is time to be applied, » the statement said.
