Republican Senators encourage Trump to restore military assistance to Ukraine / day

Legislators warn that long -term stopping military assistance can have serious and harmful consequences.

However, in their opinion, Trump had the right to temporarily suspend weapons supplies to Ukraine to assess the course of the war, put pressure on NATO allies, and create an opportunity to negotiate a peace agreement between Ukraine and Russia.

At the same time, however, Republican legislators warn that the suspension of weapons and ammunition shipments could be devastatingly influenced by Ukraine's military capabilities for too long, weakening its impact in negotiations with Russia.

In addition, they emphasize the need to immediately resume division with intelligence, as lawmakers' opinion is unlikely to benefit the US if Ukraine is deprived of crucial intelligence information from the battlefield.

« This is a concern for the Ukrainian people. I am more concerned about how people will feel on the battlefield, » Senator Tom Tillis said.

He warned that a help of aid announced on Monday could be in favor of Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.

Tillis has stated that Ukraine has enough weapons and ammunition yet to hold the front line, but hoped that the military assistance break would not be long.

He said he did not object to a break if it is short -term talk tactics.

« I hope and pray for it to be long. I think it will be, » the Senator added.

On the other hand, Susan Collins, Chairman of the Senate Committee, said she was against the end of military assistance.

« I don't think we should stop our efforts. These are the Ukrainians who pour blood, » the Senator said, calling the current moment « critical to Ukraine ».

Meanwhile, John Tyun, the leader of the Senate Republican majority, stressed that the interruption of military assistance to Ukraine would be temporary.

« It's a break that is important, not a suspension. I think it's part of the conversation, and I hope we will eventually sit down at the negotiating table and can reach an agreement that will bring a peaceful solution to this three -year conflict and hopefully respect the sovereignty of the Ukrainian people. »

Senator Lindsey Graham also expressed concern about Trump's interruption of the exchange of intelligence with Ukraine.

« I'm very worried about it in the long run, » Gray admitted.

John Kornin, a member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, admitted that « the intelligence we have provided to the Ukrainians has been very important for them to continue their fight. »

« I hope the break will be canceled at some point, » Kornin added.

Michael Rounds, a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, said he did not support the decision to stop the intelligence exchange with Ukraine, and hoped that the interruption of military assistance to Ukraine was only temporary.
