The repair bonus can no longer be used. The funds provided for this have been exhausted, the Ministry of Climate said in a broadcast on Monday. However, repair bons that have already been issued keep their validity and can be redeemed at a partner company as part of the period of three weeks. The support program is to be resumed this year.
The funding stop does not mean the end of the repair bonus, emphasized climate minister Norbert Totschnig (ÖVP). The program is now evaluated so that the money can be « used even more specifically and more efficiently in the future ». Around 130 million euros from the EU building and resilience fund have been available for the repair bonus since 2022. There were also funds from the federal government. Despite the tense budget situation, it is assumed that money will continue to be available for funding in the future, the Ministry said on the APA request.
Since the funding launch in 2022, around 1.7 million bons have been redeemed for repair, service or maintaining their electrical and electronic devices and bicycles. Smartphones, dishwasher, washing machines and coffee machines were particularly often repaired by around 6,000 partner companies. (APA)
